LIVE PERFORMANCE, 2007–2011

Chapter I – Notes on Absence

In the first chapter of this project—a live book in progress—I investigate the waiting and the expectation from an autobiographical perspective. Absence is the leitmotiv of the work, which is composed of small rites of passage that reveal physical and metaphorical deaths. Symbols of desire, eroticism, and rejection are embodied by the performer on the videos Closer and The Fourth Season, which are part of my live performance. The movement score stresses the waiting and the passage of time.

Although the core of its allusive narrative does not change, at each presentation, Walk East is edited and expanded, making it a continuous work-in-progress.

This work was initially influenced by Erotic Poems by Norma Kluster, a collection of short poems I had written between 2005 and 2007.
